An Interview with Morvarid Mehdizadeh, Harvard Medical Student

We love nothing more than sitting down with healthcare workers and learning all about their experience in their field, what makes them do what they do, and of course their experience with STAND+ (Formerly Gales®).

Recently, we sat down with Morvarid Mehdizadeh, a Harvard Medical Student and Gales® student ambassador to learn more about her medical experience thus far.

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m Iranian, and grew up in the Bay Area, California. I graduated from UC Berkeley and am currently attending Harvard Medical School. Fun fact: I also have an online bakery with my sister, where we combine our love for art and delicious pastries @ittybittypatisserie 🍰

What first sparked your interest in pursuing a medical career?

I was always fascinated with medical sciences and the human body, and had a passionate drive for helping people in my community. With both the opportunity to have direct meaningful relationships with patients and the prospect of lifelong learning, I quickly realized medicine united my intellectual ideals and curiosity for human biology with my passion for helping vulnerable communities. I was eager to devote my life to providing culturally sensitive person centered care to patients and their families.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Residency 👩🏻‍⚕️

What hobbies/passions do you have outside of school?

I love cooking/baking, dancing, spending time my friends and family, traveling, and trying new things!

How do you find time for/what do you do to prioritize your mental wellness?

I make sure to include things I like to do in my weekly routine. Whether it's exploring Boston cafes with friends for our study destinations, or finding time on the weekend to unwind, we always find a way to balance hard work with a great time.

Lastly, why do you love STAND+?!

STAND+ are light weight, waterproof, and feels like I’m standing on a cloud during long hours in the OR. It’s truly a game changer. Once you go STAND+ there’s no going back!
